ServeHAITI lost a true friend and champion on June 18, 2011. Tim Kane, award winning film producer; and, producer/director of our very own film, "Defining Dignity: The People of Haiti", passed away from cancer at his home in LeClaire, Iowa.
Along with the film crew of Timothy Kane Productions, he traveled to the region of Grand-Bois, in March, 2008. Donating his time and talent, he captured most poignantly the lives of those who live there.
Tim had a career in the film industry that spanned more than 20 years and took him to more than 40 countries. In the fall of 2008, he was quoted in the Quad - City Times newspaper (Davenport, Iowa), as saying "Having worked on film projects in places like Bangladesh, Sudan and Ethiopia, I figured I'd seen the worst the world has to offer. I was wrong. The degree of suffering and human tragedy in Haiti equals or surpasses any place in the world. And, sadly, it's in our own backyard."
Tim leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Sue and children Alex, Charlie and Megan. |
